From Prague you can take a day trip to nearby places such as Karlovy Vary, a spa town, and Karlstejn, a perfectly maintained castle overlooking the Berounka river, you can have the choice of two guided Tours through the castle.

The Sumava Mountains, which stretch along the border with Austria and Germany is ideal for walking or trekking as there are high plains and moors between it. The river Vltava rises in the Sumava and is a beautiful area to view. The Bohemian Paradise is also ideal for hiking and climbing.

For a taste of traditional folk culture head to the Moravske Slovacko Region, with many colourful traditions in speech, dress, building and decorating styles. Traditional food, singing, dancing and music can be seen at the many annual festivals. You can view local festivals at Blatnice, Straznice and Vlcnov.
